Emei Qi Gong Master and Tai Chi Sifu Trish Gurney has been practicing martial arts for 19 years. Her forms include Emei Linji Qi Gong, Yang Secret Family Long Form Tai Chi, Hop Gar Kung Fu and Escrima stick forms. Upon moving to Georgia in 1990, Sifu Trish immediately began private Tai Chi lessons with Sifu Jim Westmoreland in Griffin. After 3 years, seeking group classes which included “Push Hand” playing, Master Sifu Trish joined The Tai Chi Health Society in Riverdale, Ga., and trained under Master Sifu Ed Armstrong. Concurrently, Sifu Trish studied Hop Gar Kung Fu under the instruction of Ku Chi Wei, or Master Simon Ku in Doraville, as well as Iron Fist with Sifu Armstrong. Master Sifu Trish became a student of Grandmaster Wei Zhong Fu in 1997 and a disciple in 1998. After several years Grandmaster Fu tested 9 students in the U.S. to see if they had the understanding of Emei Linji Qi Gong to entitle them to be Masters of the Form. Trish was one of the 7 who won that designation in 2001. Grandmaster Fu is the 13th Lineage holder of this style in its 900 year tradition which continues with his choosing the 14th lineage and training him in China. Grandmaster Fu lives in Beijing.
